Hope Saunders - MFTC
Therapist for Individuals, Children, Teens, and Families
My name is Hope Saunders, and I am a Marriage and Family Training Candidate at South Denver Therapy. I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice with a minor in Addiction Recovery Studies from the University of Alabama (Roll Tide), which I completed in May 2023. I completed my Master’s degree in Human Development and Family Studies with a concentration in Marriage and Family Therapy, also from the University of Alabama.
Originally from Northern Virginia, I spent my entire life there before relocating to Alabama for my studies. In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my miniature dachshund and cat, reading, going on walks, and exploring new coffee shops. I also have a strong interest in documentaries.
I am deeply passionate about working with children and families, helping children navigate complex emotions, and supporting caregivers in learning how to manage these emotions effectively. I believe therapy is most impactful when the insights gained in sessions are actively applied at home. While my primary focus is on children and families, I also take great joy in working with individuals, particularly in helping them manage anxiety, depression, and the various challenges life presents. There is nothing better than seeing a client become their own therapist and begin navigating the ups and downs of life with the tools they have been given.
As a MFTC, I have been trained in a wide range of therapeutic approaches, allowing me to tailor my techniques to meet each client’s unique needs. For individual therapy, I typically utilize Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. In working with couples, I often incorporate Discernment Counseling and Gottman Method Couples Therapy. For family therapy, I draw on Conjoint Family Therapy, and for children, I use Child-Centered Play Therapy and Filial Therapy.
